Romeo and Juliet Indianapolis Theatre reviews
Great show, terrible mix
My first Romeo and Juliet concert experience was at one of my two favorite venues in Minneapolis, and I was very excited.
The opening movie offered a very good insight into Romeo and Juliet's life, as well as the recording of the new album. It was very good.
The drums were a bit too hot during the show's opening with new material, even though he was playing a small stand-up kit, it was the loudest part of the mix. The sound was good during this segment.
Next, a few acoustic numbers were performed in this show. The sounds were excellent in this segment. Romeo and Juliet's voice was very clear, as was the sound from the accordion and violin.
When the band would re-join for a couple of numbers, again our ears suffered. The drums over-powered everything else. Romeo and Juliet's voice gets buried in the mix.
The drums were even louder when the full rock concert segment started. While the drums sounded exceptional, they still overloaded the sound system. Romeo and Juliet's voice was harder to hear.
The rhythm guitar was virtually non-existent. Lead guitar solos were muddled. You could hear it, just not well. It never stood out in the mix like it should have.
I really DID enjoy the show, but I had such higher expectations for the sound as this venue is one of THE best in the city for concerts. But, the sound was simply too loud. You could hear reverb and over-driven instruments or instruments missing in the mix. I am sure it wasn't our seats. We were row 2 of the balcony just a few seats left of center.
